Bio and Link

What about Other “Link in Profile” Options?

There are some third-party applications available that allow you to use your one Instagram link to expand into a series of links. Examples include Linktr.ee, Tap.bio, and LinkIn.bio.

I have never used these, primarily because when they first premiered, they were glitchy and/or violated Instagram’s Terms of Service and sometimes accounts that used them got locked or the links were taken down. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard of this happening, but the fact that it has happened and could happen makes me nervous.

I found my own work-around when I started wanting to have more than one offering available at my link: I created a hidden page to my website called “Instagram,” added all the links I wanted to use to this page, and then connected my Instagram profile link to this page. You can get the step-by-step instructions for how to do that here:

This worked really well on my former website, where I was able to code my main website navigation to disappear from this page when viewed from a mobile device. However, since upgrading my website with a new Squarespace theme, I haven’t been able to find a coding trick to hide my main navigation that doesn’t also disable other features I want to be able to use, and sometimes the main navigation confuses visitors to my profile link.

If you’re not someone who feels comfortable with code but wants to use a third-party option to expand your Instagram profile link, just be sure to do your research and read plenty of reviews before you commit!
