Giveaway Winner's Maple & Moon Shoot with AG and Wild Valentine
In February of this year, ATG ran a giveaway collab with Maple & Moon Creative and the incomparable Wild Valentine Co for a creative small business to receive a 2-hour semi-styled shoot in March or April to bolster their online presence.
Then COVID-19 hit.
When the state of emergency was declared officially, Maple & Moon swiftly closed their doors to prevent contamination, which was to be a temporary measure but it was also indefinite. Wild Valentine Co continued to make floral deliveries with social distancing protocols, and ATG was very open to a shoot elsewhere from Maple & Moon in order to deliver in a timely manner on the giveaway (anything to help businesses during such an unpredictable time!), but in the end, the giveaway winner, small business At Least There Will Be Cake, decided to wait to see if the state of emergency would be lifted.
As you will well know, the state of emergency only extended as weeks turned into months. Periodically we all touched based to see how we were feeling and whether we wanted to proceed, but the shoot kept getting postponed.
Well, at long last, the shoot has been completed—in no small part because Maple & Moon Creative has decided to close its doors permanently (cue somber music). They re-opened briefly to accommodate a handful of shoots, and this month was their last month taking photography rentals. So our window of opportunity was coming to a close.
Although the shoot was coordinated somewhat last-minute because of this turn of events, the details came together beautifully. Here are some of the mouth-watering results!
Working with Molly, the creative mind behind the wedding cake business, was a true delight. Every now and then, I get a client who truly thinks of every little detail, and Molly did think of everything—from packing a variety of china patterns to knowing the tablecloths, vintage silverware, cloth napkins, goblets, and cake stands that would be right for her brand. She even managed her own workload by decorating either side of each three-tiered cake to be completely different, so that we had double the number of cake designs to capture! (How’s that for a little behind-the-scenes?)
Honestly, the product is so beautiful, a lot of the heavy lifting was done for me! Especially with the flowers provided by Sarah at Wild Valentine Co, this shoot was destined to be a winner.
Here are a handful more of my favorite shots!
Even though the world is uncertain and this giveaway was impacted by that very reality, I certainly would host another giveaway soon, provided I had the right collaborators! Higher quality photos can be the final selling point that pulls a potential customer in to a small business, and when so many businesses are struggling under the parameters set by our government right now, they need all the help they can get.
