Meet the Client: Wild Valentine Co. | Visit Portsmouth, NH
If you know me at all, you know it’s been my dream for half my life to open a coffee shop.
You also know that I loooove flowers. Like, really love them.
So capturing this flower-meets-coffee-bar in Portsmouth, NH, was basically the perfect photo gig for me!
Now, I’ve been photographing Wild Valentine Co. since before it was officially open to the public. Our first-ever session was at Tandem Coffee in Portland, Maine, on a Monday or Tuesday when they were closed, and it was just me, Sarah (the founder), and our model, Micayla.
And even when WV did officially open, it was merely a flower delivery service.
My, how far we’ve come!
This floral brand is now a retail location, espresso bar, pastry shop, internet café, and flower boutique. Could it get any better?
Wild Valentine Co., the physical location, has only been open about a month as of this writing, and I’ve been in twice to capture the space itself, the wares for sale, and the model you see in most of these photos, KJ, picking out flowers for a wrap and enjoying bloom-inspired donuts and coffee.
Both days I was in were overcast, muggy, and even a bit drizzly, so I’m excited to get back there when I can capture guests at the outdoor seating and enjoying the sunshine at the counter in the front of the shop.
WV has a subscription with me so they actually receive photos every month, so I’ll be back in there soon to capture their oatmeal bowls, which are hitting the menu next!
Here’s a little tour of the place in photos, in case you’re booking a trip to Portsmouth soon and want to know what to expect!
Left (top on mobile): Sarah, the owner, behind the floral counter, putting together an arrangement
Center: The view from the coffee counter, looking to the front of the shop
Right (bottom on mobile): The back room where freelancers and solopreneurs can set up camp with a laptop and a coffee and work in an inspiring, but quiet, space
Expect the retail shelves to change a lot over time, but currently the goods in store there include chocolates, apparel, teas, coffee table reads, wrapping parchments, vases, candles, letterpress cards, soaps, bath salts, and more…
Perhaps the most exciting thing for me about this location opening is that Sarah is encouraging seacoast business owners and influencers to come have their photos taken there.
So if you’re looking for a photo refresh, reach out here and I’ll coordinate with Sarah for a good time to ensure we have space and a pretty spot to shoot!
